Pastoral Care services are an integral part of the services offered at St. Joseph’s Living Center. Our community is fortunate to have a Pastoral Counselor on staff and available to all of our residents. This service is rarely offered in Connecticut nursing homes and we believe it sets us apart from our neighbors and can be a deciding factor when choosing a facility for your loved one.
We are highly committed to caring for the “whole person,” physically, emotionally and spiritually. While we are a Catholic institution, we care for residents of all denominations, and are happy to do so.
St. Joseph Living Center accommodates residents of all faiths. Our pastoral counselor personalizes her service to where ever you are on life’s journey. If you have no religious affiliation, that’s fine too, you‘ll feel right at home at SJLC.
Our beautifully appointed chapel, with its brightly designed stained glass windows and traditional décor offers rosary and Catholic Mass daily. Local priests say the daily Mass and communion is offered. For residents who are unable or choose not to attend Mass in the chapel, our spiritual team, including Eucharistic Ministers, offer Communion on a daily basis in resident rooms. We also offer protestant services and accommodate the spiritual needs of those from all faiths.
Our closed circuit television channel allows residents to watch Mass televised live from our chapel from the privacy and comfort of their rooms. This provides a time for daily prayer and meditation and is a welcome time of the day for spiritual renewal. Our chapel including daily mass is open to all of our families and to the general public.
In the event that end of life care is needed, our pastoral care team provides spiritual support to the resident and their families.
