End of Life Care
St. Joseph Living Center is the expert when it comes to end of life care. We provide the best of personal care as a person faces their final days. Our end of life program promotes comfort and quality of life to our residents and their families. Our philosophy to honor resident wishes begins with assuring residents are comfortable, pain management and total comfort are paramount in ensuring the best care possible.
Our trained vigil team may accompany residents when family is unable to be at the bedside. We believe that no one should be alone during this time unless we have been instructed otherwise. Pastoral staff provides end of life support consistent with each individual’s cultural and religious beliefs, all faiths welcome.
Our medical director was formerly associated with a Hospice agency and has extensive experience with palliative care and pain management. In addition, the nurses are well trained in comfort care and pain management and keep close watch over our end of life residents.
The Director of Pastoral Care is an integral part of our end of life program. She coordinates the fulfillment of the resident and family spiritual needs. Pastoral care offerings can include an of the following:
- bedside communion
- sacrament of the sick
- clergy visits
- closed circuit TV “live” Mass
- reconciliation & family support
All services as mentioned can be offered in the privacy of a resident’s room.
All faiths are welcome and we have cared for residents of many faiths with the support of area clergy and religious leaders.
